Re: Kei's 2001 Carry ute
My Carry is still kicking along. I had some delays with my mechanic so I took it back. Off to a dedicated turbo place this week for some real work. I won't even bother telling you what this is going to cost, probably twice the value of the car. Anyhoo, I also have jumped on the bandwagon to replace ...

Re: Kei's 2001 Carry ute
Thanks old man. That redlinegti thread makes it sound like a nightmare, but the bedford rascal page sounds much more promising. I'll have to have a think about it. For purely vanity reasons I'd love to have a turbo awd carry. I'll let you guys know what the quotes come in at so you can have a good l...

Re: Kei's 2001 Carry ute
Whelp, my car has lost a cylinder. I don't really have the skills or knowledge to do big engine work myself, but I'm keen to get the little guy fixed, but better. Are there any easy engine swaps my mechanic could do, or as I'm currently leaning, would it be easier and cooler to rebuild it with a tur...

Re: Members rides and locations
I'm in Brisbane, 2001 Carry Ute with a timber tray. Just discovered one of the cylinders with no compression. Now debating what to do with it next in terms of engines. G16 or prep the G13bb for a turbo, two current thoughts. Some pics of mine here: http://www.teammightyboy.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=...

Re: Kei's 2001 Carry ute
No worries mate.
Very interesting info you've posted, probably deserves its own thread to get more visibility.
I have a few more things happening with mine atm, pictures to follow soon. Looking forward to your thread, I'm sure it'll be impressive.

Good suggestions oldvanman.
Do you know if the ignis dash will pop right in? Mine is pretty shit so I'm pretty clean to replace it.

Re: Kei's 2001 Carry ute
Tray is mostly done now. There are two thin strips down the middle that I will fill with a contrasting colour of wood.
Can't oil it for a few months, but it's looking good!

Re: Kei's 2001 Carry ute
Small update: I have had someone do the work to remove the rust at the base of the cabin for me. I then welded on some horizontal plates to give me something to attach the timber to and gave it a quick primer/white coat. Timber is here and I've just started to cut and install it. Pretty impressed wi...

Re: Kei's 2001 Carry ute
The floor of the tray was pretty rusty, so I have just finished cutting it off. I'm going to tidy it up and then just do more timber for the base. A few random pics after giving it a good clean with the pressure cleaner, had soooo much caked on dirt and stuff under there. P_20150209_171117.jpg P_201...

Re: Kei's 2001 Carry ute
I think you're right, dish would look great.
Small update: 2 sides done now. Almost finished!
I also put on two new taillight lenses as one was cracked. Sourced from: http://www.minitruck.ca - really slow delivery, but they're legit.

Re: Kei's 2001 Carry ute
Been away for the end of Dec and most of Jan, glad to get back into it now. I grabbed my timber, merbau. Have just finished putting together the ass end. I'll probably re-do it with different hardware, just wanted to see if this worked. My intention was to keep it clean without using bolts or weldin...

Re: Kei's 2001 Carry ute
The tray of the ute had checkerplate bolted to it. The gates on all sides were dinged and not closing tightly and I could tell there was some rust on the tray itself. So, I removed the checkerplate and an inch or so of dust/leaves that had packed itself solid underneath. Then, I removed the tray sid...
