Re: G16 motor in a 1999 Carry van.

I don't know the ratios, but I've owned both and I believe they're exactly the same in the 99+ models.. G'day I remember reading that the ute has a slightly higher ratio. I have tried to find where I saw the info. I was looking at just importing the gearbox and front end but would have had to get t...

Re: G16 motor in a 1999 Carry van.

G'day I am impressed with your success. A couple of questions: 1. Why did you use the NZ adaptor plate for the gearbox? Was this instead of getting the block modified? 5. What model Honda is the D16 alloy 3 core Radiator out of? and did you still use the Carry thermo fan? 6. Sump needed all the G13b...

Re: G16 motor in a 1999 Carry van.

G'day

It is going to happen.
I picked up a 1999 Baleno 2 door with 160k for $300 on Gumtree.

The idea of using the APV sump and pickup should save some work and my neighbour has offered to make a set of extractors and free flowing exhaust.

Chris

Re: G16 motor in a 1999 Carry van.

G'day I am getting ready to have a crack at the conversion. Yesterday I have bought a 99 Baleno for $300: http://www.gumtree.com.au/s-ad/birmingham-gardens/wrecking/1999-suzuki-baleno-hatch-wrecking-for-parts-/1002909156 A good read is at: http://redlinegti.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=22400&am...

Re: Crank shaft oil seal replacement on 1300 engine?

G'day
The belt broke about 12 months ago and the head had to be rebuilt by the previous owner. A new belt and seal was installed but the seal failed. As the belt is in as new condition and done little mileage I am confident in putting it back in.

Re: Crank shaft oil seal replacement on 1300 engine?

Success!!! I have replaced the front seal. If an old bloke like me can do it then anybody should be able to. I did it in a dirt paddock on a set of car ramps. with a trampoline mat to lay on. It took me about 4 hours and there was no special tools needed ( although smaller hands would have helped). ...

Crank shaft oil seal replacement on 1300 engine?

G'day I bought a '99 Carry that had a head rebuild after a cam belt let go. It has traveled about 30,000kms since then and the crankshaft oil seal has just failed in a big way so it obviously has not been changed. The salesman at the spare parts place says that the leaking oil will have affected the...

G'day

The problem you face is if you have an accident. The Insurance Scumbags will try to weasel out of paying. Non-standard wheels are common cause of denial of payout so check with your Insurer as to acceptability.

G'day An update on my slipping clutch. I found an ebay shop that would do it for $300 plus $40 freight. I printed the reply and showed it to a couple of local spare parts places. One could nearly match it so I gave them my business. I got an Exedy kit for $350 delivered. Now what was interesting was...
