You use a booster from, say, a Commodore and just do a mechanical linkage to it. finding the space to mount the booster may be a problem - as is fitting anything into a MB.

If it is a sensor problem, the ECU will most likely detect it. I had an issue with my VL commodore many years ago where the fuel pressure reg would jam open given 80psi to the injectors. This would happen at random times. I'd see black smoke out the exhaust and the engine would die then fix itself a...

the technique of using a bigger fuse is fraught with problems - setting your car on fire is #1 reason why you really don't want to do it. I'd suggest using your eyes to look carefully at the wiring to see where the problem might be. Reminds me of the poor spotty kid whose 5L stateman was going up in...

I usually jump on the pole a few times - you just need to crack the molecular weld and the nut just comes off. To stop the wheel turning I've been known to put a breaker bar onto the wheel nut. Nevertheless, it succumbed to your brute force.

Picked up the Whiteline Pro Bushes today!!!! They look very good in quality, not hard or soft!!!! Papa bear's bushes were too hard, Mama bear's bush was too soft and baby bear's was 'just right' Sounds like a bedtime story.......and a suspicious one at that! Hopefully it won't end up like baby bear...

I'm always a bit suspicious of using synthetics in anything. I've had bad experiences with corrosion in gearboxes since synthetics are hydroscopic - they soak up moisture from the air. This moisture ends up on your gears and they rust. Not a problem if the car gets run often, but if you leave it a w...

Evil1, as to how much power you get from an engine basically boils down to how much air it can pump. Once you know how much air, then you can figure out how much fuel you'll need. Once you know how much fuel then you can choose a fuel pump to deliver that amount. A book on basic thermodynamics will ...

Gadj - got one of those beasts (Dillon Mk3). 'bout the only thing I use it for is a gas axe as it is nice and compact. In the right hands these beasts are supposed to do anything, but I've not had much luck or patience with it. The fun is finding someone who actually knows how to use one. Still, I'd...

The big problem in welding cast iron is it cracking as it cools. The 'official' way is to use heat blankets and heaters to bring it up to a couple of hundred degrees, weld it. then let it cool real slow. Other methods would be to shove it in the oven, weld it and try to keep it covered until it cool...

It might be the fuel line rusting out also. A friends Corolla had this issue - many fuel pump rebuilds and carby rebuild failed to fix the problem. I ran some compressed air through the line and blew crap out. It blocked up again so we just replaced to fuel line - problem solved.

This would have to be the first time I've heard someone complain about NOT having turbo lag! Maybe some extra wastegate control and an ECU stategy to give you a cruise mode. Something like: if delta TPS is low and RPM is in transition range then activate bypass so when you plant the foot, the delta ...

Threebond and other manufacturers have silicone style goo that works well. Of course, to get the sump off, you need to lever it as you mention. As Brayden say, clean the surfaces with some solvent and the thing won't leak. Brayden, what 'sikaflex' variety do you use?

The rear of the Matiz flywheel needs to be machined to clear the rear main seal assembly of the F8B. As for the size, I can't recall.

Just to recap on the major differences between the standard gearbox and the Matiz - starter motor sits behind the engine rather than on top of the gearbox- F8B needs some angle grinder work on the block to get some clearance gearbox sits on a different angle - therefore you need different engine/gbo...

Matiz GB

You can read my threads from some time ago about the trials of putting a Matiz gearbox into a MightyBoy. $200 for a whole Matiz with a blown gasket - I'd be paying that! It cost me more than that for a gearbox, driveshafts and the shift mechanism! Fitting the Matiz engine shouldn't be too much of a ...
