Oil relief valve is part of the pump. You can service the oil pump with the engine in situ but it is a bastard of a job that requires removal of the timing belt. If you get that far then you might as well replace the timing belt, tensioner and water pump too. I would recommend compression testing the motor before you start - it might work out better to pluck the motor and rebuild it.

its a simple job to take the engine out and then you can go to town on the little f10a, its just a bitch to work on it in the van

ok
bit of an update
just spent the better part of the whole day removing the sump from the f10a
quite a time consuming job due to the coolant pipe in the way and the slant of the engine
as suspected, the oil pickup was almost completely blocked. gave it a quick wire brush on a drill and came up good as new.
now the bad part is there is a lot of metal material in the sump.
im hoping this will at least buy me 5000 km's while i look into rebuild/replacement options
i did spy a cheap 2000 kawasaki zx9 motor for under $500 (needs carbs and clutch basket). 128.6 hp and 69.9ft lbs should make it move along nicely.
the engine is quite compact and the 6 spd sequential box would be a bonus. only problem would be the lack of a reverse gear. im thinking hooking up a starter motor to the tailshaft would give me what i need.

Starter motor on tail shaft? Usually do it off a ringed disc on the brakes. I think a starter motor would wear out soon on a carry. There about 600kg? Plus the wear on the clutch which is designed for a sub 200kg bike. Alot of work to get it to work.

ok all is back together and the knocking continues
time to find a new bottom end
or maybe a whole motor

dam after all that work taking the sump of and cleaning the oil pick up and then putting it back together to still have the knock

Hey guys! I know this is an old thread but I’m trying to do a head gasket replacement in my 1990 Suzuki Super Carry. I was told you could do this with the motor in the car but I have no room to remove the last 4 head bolts. I’m no mechanic and this is the first time I’ve ever tried to remove a cylinder head before so any help and advice would be greatly appreciated
