In most states you need to be a member of a local car club that is affiliated with the govt. road authority. In your case that's QLD Dept of Transport.
Under the historic car scheme you must keep a log book, which is cited and signed annually by a club official. You are only permitted to drive the vehicle for club events, rallies, testing, and a few other purposes (not general street use).
Here's the QLD info: http://www.tmr.qld.gov.au/~/media/Regis ... _guide.pdf
