Im just wondering how reliable your MightyBoys are fitted with the 550cc F5A?????
Ive had my ute which has a rebuilt F5A since Feb and the only problems I have had with mine are a loose belt and the leads from the distributor going to the spark plugs have come loose which then lead to the engine misfireing of course. Apart from that she runs pretty well.
General Reliability of F5A..
I can't seem to kill my F8B with a stick. I went through a few 2nd hand F5A's in the past though - they don't tend to like being flogged.

Im guessing you have flogged them just so that you could put an F8B in there. Basically dont flog them and you should be ok...Brayden wrote:I can't seem to kill my F8B with a stick. I went through a few 2nd hand F5A's in the past though - they don't tend to like being flogged.
Garry. Nuff sed!
They're very simple little engines... pretty hard to kill...

I'd say they're pretty easy to kill. Over-revving tends to melt pistons, and you need to over-rev an F5A most of the time to get anywhere!

I dunno... your second hand F5A that I only chuffed out this year still runs without serious problems and I know you didn't drive it like you were driving miss daisy - and neither did I!
