Hi guys!
If i'm to disconnect the crankcase breather connected to the airfilter then how would that affect the engine perfromance? Means, usually hot gases come out of the vent when the engine is running if these hot gases are not fed into the airbox & the engine gets only fresh air then it should improve the performance isn't it?

Cheers.

Yeah, runing cleaner air will be better for the engine i would imagine. But then your stuck with what to do with your blow-by gasses, you can get little filters for them and run it to atmo, but thats not too nice on the ozone layer. Best bet would be to run an oil catch can first then blow-by filter.

Does any vehicle come from the factory with an oil catch which i could use? If not from where can i get one?
And is it possible to change that pcv filter inside the cam cover?

Cheers.

I would doubt that there would be a car with factory oil catch can. I doubt that they would be legal? (Not too sure on that one) But other than that, you can get them from any car store like Auto Pro, Repco, eBay etc.

there is no pcv valve on a f5 or f8 nor is there a filter, there is only a baffle that is designed to stop oil spewing out the breather hole. just give it a good dose of carby cleaner down the pipe, with the cover off the engine of course.

whilst on the subject does anyone know why mine has 2 pcv hoses?

the smaller extra one has been professionally blocked off with a bolt :-o
but its not the original engine so it may be a feature from another model

The leads are just Repco ones.

With the POD its was just a temporary fit up, im not to happy with it at the moment, but hopefully that will change soon :) It has a mad intake sound though :P

Breather filter was (i think) $15 from Supercheap.
The intake sounds sick when it is running properly, nice sound when you change gears and when you get up higher in the rev range. It will be good when the engine doesnt stall at idle... :x
