Is the sawp for The f6a as simple as a swap for the f8b or does the cradle have to be modified?
thanks

To my knowledge. the F6A doesn't sit on a subframe in the same manner the F5A and F8B engines do. It's weight is largely 'hung' in the same manner as the late-model Suzuki Swift's engine's are support. I'm afraid I can't elaborate though, and I'm not familiar with the technical terms.

Just to digress a little. When I rang the guy selling his turbo mightyboy in the west ( http://tamon.org/forum/viewtopic.php?p=1829#1829 ), he told me that he had fitted (himself) a turbo setup from a Mira - I presume tr-xx?
According to him the whole subframe & suspension went into the mightyboy. He seemed to indicate that the swap wasn't TOO hard. I'd loved to have gone and had a look at it but I feel uncomfortable to inconvenience them too much. Maybe a trip down to the wreckers & a look at a mira will enlighten you on this one?

From my limited knowledge, the mira turbo setup is roughly the same power & capacity to a f6a. Anyone?

To answer the question on the F6A install in the two cases I have seen it has taken around $2k worth of fabricating and engineering to get the engine into a MightyBoy, aparrantly Wil has done the install himself but only he could fill you in on the details.

As far as I have seen the entire centre cradle from the Alto has to be grafted into the MightyBoy engine bay, which requires the strengthening of the front crossmember (lower radiator support beam) along with modifying the existing subframe.

Anyway, I think if you want the job done properly and for things to be strong enough its not something to attack in the backyard unless you're pretty clued up on what you're doing.

i reckon it would take a couple of hours to list all the mods we made whilst doing my conversion, i aint got that much time !
unless you have a hoist, a crane and a welder i wouldn't bother mate, i'm not insulting your skill or whatever, it's a really really really big job. if i was you i would be negotiating a price with col for one of his turbo setups and going that route.

Hopefully i'll have my turbo back soon enough and back on the mb... yourself ? still driving the yellow beast ?

Yeah, driving it into the ground... :(

Colin and I will be giving her a big overhaul soon enough though... And business is slowly but surely picking up, so in coming months I'm hoping to invest in a late-model Carry to have as a work car. Then the wee ute can relax in the shed away from all the horrors of daily driving and we can just have Sunday outings together. :)
