Electronic box under seat ?

Hi , does any one out there no what the ELECTRONIC box under the drivers seat in a 83 HATCH do ? it was an automatic at some time now its got a manual box . :?:

Thats the auto box controller unit.

thanks brayden , thought so , could not see in manual trans w/shop book , any loom dia on site ? like to take it out . :?:

You can just pull the box out. It won't impact on anything else.
