I started a thread over on RedlineGTi to see if there was any interested in a track day later this year at Wakefield Park.
Would anyone from here be interested?

I'm keen and roadworthy
Beauty part is for a private booking you don't need a registered car, just scrutineering.

Scrutineering
I might not be ok!
I might not be ok!
So long as it isn't around the weekend of the 31st of August (go-karting that weekend), and all is working good and well, I am in like Flynn. If the GTi is drivable by then it might come as a +1, and I might have a mate or two who are keen.
Just another question, something that might be useful to those interested: What sort of apparel do we have to bring? I assume you would have to supply your own helmet and be wearing enclosed shoes and long sleeved shirt?

Garry. Nuff sed!
You can hire a helmet or bring your own. Apart from that all you need is head to toe cotton.
Shane, I would be in charge of scrutineering.

So what will scrutineering involve? I am assumeing anything that is a danger to other drivers/spectators, un-roadworty tyres, poor steering/suspension/braking, leaking fluids, possibly lighting etc? How will this be checked out, and will you need any help? I am happy to volunteer on the day, especially if I won't have a car ready for it.
Also, if there is anything else you need help with, again, I am here to lend a hand.

Cheers for the offer mate.
Scrutineering will essentially be a basic roadworthy check, but based on track requirements. So tyre tread won't be an issue unless it rains or there are steel belts hanging out.
The most important things to check for are that everything externally is bolted on securely, that the vehicle isn't leaking fluids, that brake pads have enough meat, headlights are taped, and there are no other obvious faults.
