I took my boy out to Wakefield at the drop of a hat with some of my mates for a couple of roundie roundies at an event organised by the Honda Car Club of NSW.
The boy behaved wonderfully, all of the work I've put into it paid off and I got no complaints from it except when I went out for a second session without letting the engine cool down (it conked out somewhere around turn 6). Still, you can't hold a good mightyboy down! I let it rest for a few minutes and it sprung back to life instantly. (And it also made the trip home flawlessly).
Wakefield is a track made for smaller nimbler cars! Perfect for the likes of us all!

PHT80Y's first track day
Awesome Dave!
What's the technical explanation behind that little overheating episode, though?

prolly the lack of a temperature gauge!
In all seriousness.. 10 laps is pretty impressive for a stock engine. I'm not sure if it was overheating at all.. It just started missing as I came down the straight and then fell to pieces half way around and conked. Might well have been a fuel delivery problem (fogging or boiling fuel) who knows.. I might even have emptied my surge tank.
When it came good I brought it in and I could still put my hand on the radiator cap without any problems.. *shrugs*

I discussed it with a bloke here at work and we came to the conclusion that it may well have been boiling fuel. My surge tank is about 1 litre and that fuel is constantly circulating to the engine and back to the surge tank. If I'm using a lot of fuel then the speed of the fuel traveling through the hoses is very high. If I was to change the fuel system setup so the fuel returns to the fuel tank instead of the surge tank then I'll be looping ~20 litres intead of 1.
A potential solution.
The only down side is that the level of the surge tank will drop if the volume of fuel moved by the pre-pump is less than the engine's usage, which pretty much eliminates it's usefulness.

Hmmmmm... Gotcha.
