Just about to go and put my modified cam shaft that I recently got back from the cam guy into the car.

Was originally going to wait until I got my replacement head ported and skimmed etc, but I figured I'd chuck the cam in the stock engine first to see what kind of difference it makes. Not expecting much with standard exhaust etc but will be interesting.

Will post results tonight along with some photos.

here are the specs:

Old cam was:

Advertised duration @.004 lifter rise: 255-260 degrees
Duration @ .050” lifter rise: 185-190 degrees
Cam lift: .198”

New cam specs are:

Advertised duration @.004 lifter rise: 282 degrees
Duration @ .050” lifter rise: 205 degrees
Cam lift: .254”

ok, got the cam in yesterday. Got stuck on the reassembly at the same place as last time I had the engine apart, which was putting the distributor back in - I assumed (incorrectly, again) that the little line you use to line up to tdc is where the rotor should end up, but if you read on a little that line is what you use to line up before the splines rotate the distributor.

Anyway, will remember that NEXT time.

Initial driving impressions are pretty good. There's definitely a noticeably rougher idle, and I had to adjust idle speed up slightly after first starting.
Performance wise, I'd say there's been improvement, but very slight.

Next mods will be head porting, polishing and skimming, as well as exhaust headers and a new exhaust.

Interesting. I was considering getting a spare cam ground to see what it would be like, but i might not bother until i get my turbo f8b together & running properly.

Cheers
