Hi all,
I went down to suziworld today, to get my alto checked out, since its been running really shit lately, & I found out i have a dead cylinder
So...... i need a new engine.
I'm now looking for an F8B, or if worse comes to worse, i'll re-build my F5A.
Also, fuel economy wise, does anyone know if the F8B uses much more petrol than the F5A?
Cheers
Craig

Depending on how you drive an F8B can use less fuel than an F5A because it doesn't need to work as hard. Of course if you have a lead foot no matter what the engine you will use fuel.

I have found an F8B at a wreckers today, he's asking $450.
Its that cheap or expensive? It will still need to be re-coed.
Still not sure what to do , re-co my F5A, or buy an F8B and re-co that.
Why is it always about money?

$450 for an engine that needs reco is bullshit. Should cost you no more than $100 if it is stuffed.

Yep, very expensive! I paid $350 for mine and it was running but not great, so $450 is way too much. If the engine is in need of a full reco, $100 is probably on the money.Brayden wrote:$450 for an engine that needs reco is bullshit. Should cost you no more than $100 if it is stuffed.
Artic -> If the engine needs a rebore you will be up for a bit of coin no matter if it's a F5a or F8b, so you might as well spend up on a F8b! I find my F8b no worse for fuel than the old F5a.
