As the name sugest, Im looking into the F8c conversion.
Due to my poor old 550 being on its last legs and the lack of F8b engines around I am seriously considering this conversion.
I have searched the forum and the FAQ and want to know is there anyone here who has actually done it from start to finish? There was a guy who attempted it but had trouble with the intake manifold? I think he then sold the car.
If there is someone who has actually done it in full then I maybe able to find out the extent of the process. Even If I can get enough information to attempt this then Im happy to make a comprehensive guide for all who will be lnterested.
Thanks :)

Gday Hewball,
Have you got a specific time frame for completion of the conversion and do you see any specific difficulties yet?
Cheers :)

Please keep us posted as this would be an idea replacment motor.
When you say gearbox mounts, you mean actual fabrication of mounts to hold the gearbox to the engine bay?
I assume the cable needs direct access to the box?
How about the fueling and wiring?
Cheers

The guides section has information on that. You'll need bigger fuel lines for the efi.

Fuel line should be fine as long as i run the pressurised fuel from a rear surge tank.
the Matiz uses a non return fuel rail btw

Yeah looks like im going to need to fabricate the gearbox mounts.

and as for wiring i got a whole Loom from the matiz i wrecked so im going to use that

I gotta say mate, It takes dedication to do a conversion like this. Much respect. I look forward to the end result. (i hope soon  ) If it is a sucess and I dont find a F8b soon then that is probably the path I will take. Please if you can keep notes on whats invovled.
Cheers :)

to be honest you will find the G10a conversion more powerful, less costly and simple in terms of modifications......don't think that f8b/f8c is your only option from a f5a....

Thanks ike849,
I do like the idea of a 1l engne. Ive read somewhere that its hard on engine mounts and you cant change spark plugs when its in cos its so tight?

I want peoples opinions here.
If you had like me a F5a auto and you had the oportunity to either go G10a man or F8b Man what would you do and why? Pros and Cons
Thanks :)

I'm still a fan of the F8B because you can start the swap after breakfast and be driving it by lunchtime.
