I wonder if using the matiz tie rod ends would affect the geometry at all. $45 for a pair of matiz ones, i think $70 for a pair of mb ones.

The TREs themselves wouldn't affect the geometry. You would need to ensure that the diameter of the shaft, and the thread matches up to the MB parts.

I think the matiz fitted them from below facing up, whilst the MB fits from above, facing down through the knuckle.

Mine are fitted from below, with the nut on the top.

ill grab a photo of both tie rod end's, i have a hatch and matiz one sitting on top of each other, give me an hour or so and ill take the photo

Awesome. I just threaded the nut on my tre and its either find another nut or do the tre coz they come with the nut.

you may also notice one tie rod end has a thread and the other is reversed

Yeah the reversed thread might be a bit of a hurdle! :lol: For the tiny difference in price I wouldn't stuff around with the Matiz rod ends.

Far out this thread is moving fast...! :-o
A few posts ago we were talking about cup holders - now we're onto tie rod ends. Whew!.... :D

So to add my two-bob's worth on the cup-holder part... Nice Job Ben...

Beat's mine hands down - makes the car look a little more modern too.


( Now Back to Tie Rod Ends... ) :D
