I'm running 175/50/R14 with 35-38 offset, cant remember, fronts stick out abit but back is just flush, will fix the front with camber. If you go 40+ offest you will get major scrubbing on the rails. I recomend 14x5 if you havnt got something in there worthy of 6 inches wide lol. My back is 10mm wider each side from the disc brake conversion. Also will need to roll arches and with 35 onwards the weels will scrub on your upper bumpstop, mine only sits 4mm off them atm with 10mm increase.

good points, these wheels are pretty cool though, old school and slick 8) i kinda get sick of seeing cars with the typical machined on black every joe has a set of those, i wanted to have bigger wheels but again old school keep some form or originality. In saying this the wheels sizing is the same for the hatch isn't it, because i own both and both need wheels just wasn't sure if there was any major/minor differences

You could also go with 155/60/14 - I think that's what Holk has on it.

yea i just found the thread for his tyre size. although not easy finding a decent set of mags for these, maybe im just to choosy. you think you find a set and bam the offset is wrong. i took a photo of the 17 on the car looks stupid but funny at the same time ill post it so whenever someone asks about putting big wheels on you can forward the link :P

I am running 14 x 6 with a +15 offset on my MB with 165/50/14 Simex SM8000 tyres. Then fit quite well but I needed to flare the guards to keep then inside the body line and clear the back to ensure that it didn't rub when it went over bumps. They are legal offset but the tyre is just a little too large diameter wise for it to be 100% legal they don't look out of place though.

Those wheels look cool man that's something along the line I want, correct me if in wrong, the general offset for the mb is around +38 by putting on +15 offset which sits further out wouldn't that be putting stress on all you other components? Did it in anyway alter steering? Still looks cool.. :thumbup2:

My 175/50r14 are legal size so not sure how your 165/50r14 are illegal. Aloud 50mm increase because its a ute. Mine are 20mm bigger.

Billie, to be honest I forgot about the fact that they are a commercial vehicle :P

So in that case mine is 100% legal :D (I should know better as an engineer)

When I measured the std rims they were around +25 offset but I would have to got back and check. As for suspension upgrade I am running SF Swift front end in mine so no issues there along with upgraded 12mm wheel studs.

Cheers

The standard wheel is 12 x 4.5 so you've gained 1.5 inches in the width. if you had that at the standard +38 it would look like a steam roller...

Huh? lower offset moves the wheel out, hence why drift boys like there -offset wheels. My offset is lower, if the lower offset moved the wheel in they wouldnt of fit. 14x6 does give a fat look though.
