I've started this project, it will get there one day,but if you have any questions id probably have some idea anyway....

here was my matiz photos

http://gallery.me.com/hewball#100081&bg ... &view=grid

as for the wiring diagrams
http://hewball.com.au/files/F5AManual.pdf f5a manual from here
http://hewball.com.au/files/Daewoo_Matiz.pdf from a 2003 model, can't remember where i got it from, but has all the wiring info in it

and as breyten said the drivers side motor mount fits on the motor, but needs modification to take the alternator in the factory spot, oh and the extra f8b mount to the top of the engine bay fits too, so i figure that is good to add too

if you want a photo of both attached ill go grab one

and just for reference there is an off the shelf heavy duty clutch for those too :D

Cheers Brenton

thanks for the wiring diagram hewball that will save me a lot of time :D

the engine is undone but theres still a couple of hoses i gotta undo.
one thing tho, i want to take out that subframe/cradle thing so its not in the way when i wheel the matiz engine in, the cradle can go back on after.
but looking at it, it seems the cradle is welded on at the back, is there a way to get it off?

The MB subframe just bolts on, No welds. I swapped out the auto frame for the manual frame

it even bent the frame a bit coz of the weight of the engine and the stands not being quite tall enough.

the only way i can see to unbolt the frame is to unbolt the part where the steering fits through aswell and i dotn want to unbolt the steering, that is a major pain to put back.

To get the subframe out you need the rack discounected (uni joint in foot well). Those are factory welds. Better to fit engine with subframe in (as its what the engine mounts to).

engine is out, my dad thinking of where to put it

Image

ok so this is what we r gonna do, taking the steering rack out is a pain the anus so we r gonna cut the frame off the wishbone connects to the car, and use the frame from the matiz in its place, the bolt holes line up exactly, the matiz frame needs a bit cut off the corner so it goes in all the way but it will be a perfect match, the engine mount on the front bar comes with it so no need for custom mount there.

edit; the matiz front bar sits too high so we just put the mightyboy one back

Big no no.

Leave the frame as it is. Your trying to engineer it right?

DO NOT CUT THE SUBFRAME

It is so much easier to get the mounts made up rather than hacking into 2 subframes to make one.

Wiper motor relay? hazards relay? Could be speed sensor. Why would a matiz have a speed sensor? Air cond relay?

What is it connected to? Looks like the coil resistor/ballast. The leads are just spade crmps, so should pull off, no need to cut.

got a problem, the engine is too wide to fit with the mightyboy cradle. the sump is in the way on one side and the gearbox is in the way on the other side, the cradle arms r the only thing in the way.
again we r thinking of chopping them and putting in some box tube but wanted to know what other people (like hewball) did to make it fit.

the other thing is to sit the engine above the cradle but then it will be sticking out the top of the bonnet :O

Remove the matiz gearbox mount?
We test fitted hewballs one early this year, and aside from a few slow fingers it was fine.

It is likely that the bonnet will need raising or a taller clamshell to be fitting correctly though.
The rocker cover is not much taller than a f8b, but the intake might be a bit taller.

Just noticed, you will need to remove the alternator bracket to fit the engine mount bracket as well IIRC.
The one from the f5a should fit up.
Also, might be easier if you remove the driveshafts from the gearbox. They will need to be shortened and rebalanced if you want to use them.

are you talking about moving the engine mount bracket near the alternator, or moving the alternator

Fyi you modify the subframe where your control arm goes it will never be able to be engineered. One thing they dont alow is modifications to these components. Could use auto subframe as it has differnt mounting points. How are you planning on doing the mounts? Getting a pro or doing them yourself? I got a pro to do mine as its something you dont want going wrong, I'v had to get nearly all the mounts he did re-done as they were dodgy and in the way of the supercharger. The second guy was alot cheaper. Could get your sump modified, alot of work for a matiz engine though. I guess they are reliable and cheap on parts.
