I have just put new rear shoes in the Mb and even with the handbrake adjusted up as far as it would go it only just works, so I guess it is just old and stretched where would I get another cable? (or how do I get a bit more out of the old one?)

failing that there is available a device which shortens the cable it is a sort of triangle shape thing that screws up to tighten the cable, most parts places should have them they are pretty cheap.
