Yes. The jets in an F5A carby are smaller.

Would it be worth it to just swap over the jets and pilot jets instead of spending 110 bucks in a rebuild kit?

Hey Man,
Best you listen to Brayden.
My idea - do it once, do it right but your call, your coin.
F5A carbies have a choice of 2 x carby kits (ive done the exercise already)
F8B - either buy a carby kit from Repco etc and rebuild yours properly.
If you cant be arsed - contact Roboclan on here - he sells brand new F8B carbies.
Good luck with it pal. :)

A fuel miser rebuild kit should only set you back about $75, and it comes with parts to suit most variants of F5 and F8 carbs (excluding auto).
Brand new Chinese carbs are also a good buy for the price. Another alternative is to use a set of triple bike carbs if you have the resources.
