Hey Guys,

I'm quietly (read: without the missus finding out) trying to do some research into where I can get my hands on one of these nifty Every's.

I was under the impression however that the 15 year import rule was now really hard to get around and that the chances of getting such a car are very slim.

What are my options? (QLD)

Yeah thanks Dave... I had already posted there

Sounds like an awesome ride but the whole "other state" thing makes it difficult. I guess my post was more of a: How did you get the Every Brayden and how can I do the same thing?

From what i've found out, the "15 year or older" desn't exist anymore. They've replaced it with "1988 or older" so getting something that old would be no trouble i guess.

The other rule is part of SEVS (Specialist and Enthusiast Vehicles Scheme)
and there is a list of cars that can be legally imported that are as late as 2005 and 2006.

This link is pretty helpful:
http://rvcs-prodweb.dot.gov.au/

if you click on the "Register of Specialist and Enthusiast Vehicles" button on the left you can access a list of eligeble cars, sadly suzuki's aren't on the list, but oin the same site there is a list of NON-Eligible cars and suzi's arent on there either.... :?

So my best guess is:
It doesn't say you can't import them. :D
If i were serious about getting one in, i would ring vehicle imports.

Link to a government circular thing:

This is a little bit up from the bottom of the page (above link):
Further Information
If you have any queries about the application form, decision-making process, or require further information, please contact vehicle imports by phoning 1800 815 272 or 61 2 6274 7444.

Is there any reason you particularly want an Every? They're essentially the same thing as the local Carry, only they come with an optional turbo and bodykit.

www.yahoomotorsport.com have a high-roof Every at the moment, sadly it is non-turbo.

it cant be that hard to change states with a car. on the new the other week it said that 175000 people move to queensland every year or something and they all must change the cars over.. if you really want one gets braydens, it looks sweet, shouldn't be that hard to transfer :D

It might be possible...

I looked into freight and it's about $500

They say there aren't any special rules to register imports if they're built before Jan 1, 1989 so I think it's ok there too.

Just has to pass a regular safety cert and we're set.

The wife said to me, "You don't listen to me anyway, do whatever you want"

That's permission right?

That's her saying "If you buy it, i'm gonna bludgeon you with it - but not before depriving you of sex, good food & anything else you cherish in this relationship"

You can pick up a locally delivered '99 model every for about $6k

http://www.drive.com.au/buy/market_valu ... 1999&body=

http://www.carsales.com.au/pls/carsales ... istance=25

58kW, 873kg - very nice vehicle.

Paintjob in your favourite colour or airbrush, and fix the interior up with your own stuff, and you're away! They're also nice and RWD, too.

I heard that "Pimpage" was an official option from suzuki. As for boost, that can be done on top of the current power.

This means you're up for about $10k for a pimped and boosted carry.

Damn you for giving me expensive ideas!

Ha! I'd like to see you get that Carry for $6500 (or even $6k flat) and have it to the stage mine is for an additional $4k! :P

Ya dreamin' mate! :D
