I reckon pissing off the old unit and mounting in-dash is the go, but you have to remove the ashtray, its surrounding plastics and fabricate a blanking plate to go beside your head unit.

In my old dash i had it cut out with the ashtray beside it, but now with my hatch dash i have a whole section for it and it looks sweet filling in the whole space. I reckon if you can make up a console type thing it would look pretty sweet. :thumbup1:

I had the same issue. Make sure you file the bottom and top edges dead flat, then continue to fil away the top angled plastic as much as you have to in order to make your head unit fit snugly.

No problem. Link was for a picture as you asked for. I actually made a second one out of ply and vinyl I got from an upholsterer. Cost about $30- all up.
