First loss.....

Yesterday, I raced my NA Tuned F8B Alto with a Stage 1 Modified Santro and unfortunately, LOST!! :x :(

His santro was NA and I later on learned that it did 0-100 in ten seconds. :x

Man that thing is fast. Do u guys know any ignition mods or carby jet mods to make my car a little faster. As u all might know, it is a F8B with custom Headers, Straight Through Exhaust wid a free flow muffler. Bosch 4 point plugs and bigger carby jets. Please lemme know.! :twisted:

Bosch Super 4 spark plugs are designed for longevity, not performance. They were developed for the Mitsubishi transverse V6 as found in the Manga in order to lower service costs. Apparently you need to remove fuel rails and all sorts of sh!t in order to access the spark plug recesses on the rear bank of cylinders... hence the desire to change them as little as possible.

If you've got a bit of money to splash around for the most minor increases in performance, you could try the following:

* Replace your ignition coil with a suitable transformer/coil-pack type replacement, eg: Bosch GT40RT

* Replace your ignition leads with 8.8mm or 11mm high performance leads in your choice of manufacturer, eg: Top Gun

* Replace your spark plugs with performance plugs, eg: NGK IridiumIX or even better, NGK Platinum (similiar performance to the IridiumIX plugs without the rist of losing the iridium tip to high internal temperatures - intended for turbo buffs)

* Source some higher-tension springs for the auto-advance on your distributor. Fewer spring windings than the stock units will make for greater spring tension which will give you a later, more subtle ignition advance and enable you to have your ignition timing further advanced at low revs for more torque without the engine pinging its tits off when you get into the upper rev range.

Don't bother with the GT40 - Get an MSD 6AL box with a blaster coil, get rid of the crappy points & fit up an electronic distributor pickup (modify one from a 6 cylinder car to fit). It'll set you back a fair bit, but the spark is SOOOO much hotter & fatter, plus it fires 6 times in the same duration as a single points-fired spark, for more complete combustion (which not only increases power, but also improves throttle response, better fuel economy & lower emissions too). Stops your plugs from fouling from an overly-rich mixture too.

BTW. The only reason i'm posting an "advert" is because i've used them - I know FROM REAL EXPERIENCE how good they are.

Read up about it elsewhere if you like - Google for MSD and you'll find their website quickly enough...

Then once you've done that, your head gasket will develop a leak, and that's when you take the opportunity to have the head surface decked a few mm to increase the compression to about 10.8:1, have the ports enlarged, polished & flowed, then smack on a big fat weber carby bolted onto the inlet with a fat stack poking out through the bonnet.

Even if you don't get any increase in power from doing this last bit (though you probably will), you'll have a great laugh at the inlet noise it makes & the sight of riceboys looking at your big chrome stack... :lol:

10.8 : 1, thats some EXTREME SHIT MAN!! I dont think it would last even a day.

However, I was thinking of getting it increased to 9:1 or maybe 9.5:1. what other mods will I have to do to keep up wid the engine?

And does enlarging the Intake MAnifold pipes by using a dremel increase performance on the standard Compression Ratio..

okay, i read somewhere that after putting a weber on to replace the stock carby you should upgrade the ignition system. i'm thinking about the Bosch GT40R coil but am a bit worried about the points. are there better points available, or should i just replace them with new ones?

I've never had a problem with my GT coil and standard points. Mind you switching to an electronic ignition would be pretty much the best thing you could do.

Points is points really, I don't think you can upgrade the stock set.

timing is 7+/- degrees for the F8B???? i thought it was 10 degrees??

10 is fine for performance if you're running a high octane fuel. If the engine is pinging then back it off.
