I recently bought an MB, a black one with gold mags and rather large exhaust - some of you might know it, as Mark from Suziworx on the Sunshine Coast (qld) used to own it.

Anyways, it's been dumped to the max, which means it looks cool, but is a little too low for the bumpy streets around my area. Resultantly, the wheels keep rubbing on the guards and I am getting a little concerned that I might do some damage to either the panels or the tyres... Also means that if I have a passenger, the poor little MB starts rubbing on nearly every corner.

So it looks like I'll have to put some new springs in it so it will sit up a bit higher. Does anyone:

i) Have any spare shockies they would like to part with?
OR ii) Know how much a brand new set would cost, and where I could get them from?
iii) Know where I can get these shocks replaced, at el-cheapo prices, in the Brisbane area?

Cheers.

From memory you might have SA GTi struts in your ute, which means a set of standard height King Springs will get it back up to a reasonable height.

Make sure you get STANDARD HEIGHT springs though. Shouldn't cost you more than $120 for the pair.

If you want a set of stock springs I may have a set.

I have lowered king springs with my gti struts & hubs. No probs with my stocker 15" rims (approx 45 offset???) & only slight rubbing with my 15x6 mags (38 offset?) My gaurds are rolled/trimmed Would be much better also with beefed sway bar setup. :)
If it's too low you may have MB shocks on gti hubs? - if so maybe gti struts will fix the prob??? :?

Height combinations work out as follows:

MB struts + MB hubs + low King Springs = ~40mm drop
GTi struts + MB hubs + low King Springs = ~65mm drop
GTi struts + GTi hubs + low King Springs = ~40mm drop
MB struts + GTi hubs + low King Springs = ~25mm drop
GTi struts + MB hubs + standard springs = ~25mm drop

As per the info in the guides section, SA Swift springs are what you need for roughly 40mm drop.

Ive done a search so please excuse me if ive missed it.
What exact mod has to be done to the MB hub/swift strut to get it to fit?
Drilling bigger holes rings a bell I noticed the mb Struts have a 12mm hole. :?:

The hole spacing for Swift struts is different, so you need to elongate one of the holes on the strut (top recommended) to match them to an MB hub.

Thanks Brayden,
Just to be sure, I can use the MB spring and strut top. (25mm lower) I might try it first to check if im happy with the height. If I use the standard height swift spring it will lower it approx 40mm?
Cheers Thanks :)

Not quite. If you use the SA Swift strut with the standard Swift spring then you get 25mm of drop due to the shape of the lower bracket. ;)

Ok, sorry I thought you where referring to MB springs not Swift springs
so what if you use swift struts and MB springs?
Thanks
