if you just throw a small turbo onto a 160,000 km old stock F5A which runs great. how much boost would u run and would u do any decompression by shaving the pistons or something and if you ran too much boost what would blow??
what happens when you run to much boost what actually blows??

You'd have to run three tenths of f*ck all boost, and it would probably blow at anything over 10psi, either by blowing the rings, melting a piston or spitting the head gasket.

Don't forget that if you were to turbo it you'd have to re-curve the dizzy and fit an electric fuel pump amongst other things.

Your money would be better spent on building a decompressed F8B.

Not much to explain! Decompressing simply means lowering the compression ratio to allow for more boost without pre-detonation. You can do it the cheap way and throw on an extra head gasket or two, but that throws the cam timing out. The proper way is to use dished/shaved pistons. If the motor needs rebuilding then it would make sense to fit new pistons at that time.

The standard F8B has a compression ratio of about 8:1, which is pretty low anyway, so you wouldn't need to decompress by much.
