G'Day,

What are the Cappucinos like as a track-day car? I'm very much thinking of putting away some money for one to use as a track beast but to also be road registered.

I know the engines can do the numbers but how do the 'boxes hold and how stiff is the chassis given that it has no roof?

Feel free to give as much insight as possible.

Cheers.

P.S: If there's other cars I should consider then say so, but holy damn once you buy one Suzuki you can't seem to buy anything else!

51/49 weight distribution + lightweight + RWD + turbo = happy sideways (but controllable) fun.

I'd say they'd make an awesome track car for a muckaround, but you'd need deep pockets for sustained competitive use to cover panels and parts.

Hmmmm deep pockets are three years away.

I suppose it's all a bit of a fantasy. I need to get my bloody car back on the road so I can enjoy it for once. Even that's a bit of a fantasy at present

If anyone Cappa owner in Brisbane wants to take me for a spin, speak up :D

15 year imports changed to pre '88 imports - It would be possible to import one for "track" use but it would NOT be registerable . as no one in australia has certification to compliance one (full compliance would be required)

think you will find it is now 89, and if you live overseas for 12 months or more AND own the car during that time you can get it in as a personal import even if it is newer.

Do you have to be a perminant resident for that though?

EDIT: ...of Australia I mean. Could you be on holidays from Japan and import your car?

Like if an ex-pat bought a Cappa and had it for 12 months, then came on holidays to Australia and imported the car (and promptly sold it to me :P).
