Is it possible to have the rear drums machined? - or are they too thin like the front discs?

they can be machined but be careful if you increase the diameter too much you will end up with a low pedal, unless you fit oversized shoes 8)

Guess we'd better get oversized shoes when we get around to doing my rear brakes... I'm pretty sure they've been machined out prior to disassembly by the old brake shoes!

OK
Sounds bad for mine then. - There's already quite a lip between the edge & where the shoes have ground away.
