It sure is interesting filtering the new user accounts manually. Some interesting characters getting deleted!

Working on it... finally.. been flat out..

Need to update php to use freetype library so captcha works proper
needed to update mysql to update php - failed - mysql issue - found work-around
needed to update gcc to compile php
updated gcc
tried to compile php - didn't work
reinstalled g++
updated php - yay
found that captcha didn't work
imagettftext wasn't installed - recompiled php with imagettftext
captcha still didn't work
edited captcha file
found that captcha file was referencing an undefined function.
updated phpBB manually
captcha works.
yay - no more dodgy emails.
