Absolutely! Especially considering the stock ≤19kW at the flywheel!

Approximately what are the losses between flywheel Kw's & Kw's at the front wheels :?:

I'm no dyno technician, but my understanding is that it varies from vehicle to vehicle depending on the efficiency of the transmission. (which. of course, is also dictated by the transmission setup itself, eg: 2WD / 4WD etc)

I've heard people quote in the order of "25% loss" but it's one of those fuzzy 'rules' that people seem to have ingrained into their minds without any scientific data to back it up. :NFI:

I'm quite confused about the process of measuring power output at the wheels. It stands to reason that there is going to be some loss of power between the flywheel at the wheels, (after all, this is what all that transmission heat is being generated by) but you'd think that with gearboxes gearing down the engine RPM as they do, there would be buckets of torque laying about that would normally be unavailable at the flywheel... :?

FWD drivetrain loss is generally around 15%, owing to a number of things that cause friction or drag.

* Clutch
* Gearbox cogs & bearings
* Gearbox oil
* CV joints
* Wheel bearings
* Tyres

How much power do you think you would loose if you installed an AWD system and a 5-speed out of an alto?

You'd lose about 25% and about $5k in engineering costs from your hip pocket. :wink:
