I hauled its ass all the way from Cootamundra (the trailer weighed more than the van), so it adds to the character of the van... I like bubbles :D !!!

When the mechanics are sorted and I can afford to have it off the road for a longer period of time I'm gonna get it painted black or gun metal with a dark tint.

I don't mind driving a slapper of a car, and ATM the stickers keep the cops off my back, unlike my last one (ST90 highroof, BA Falcon Blood Orange).

This post is image heavy... Sorry.
This site has popped up before, but its worth another mention: http://www.jarnokalliomaki.com/galleria ... hp?album=1

I got my digital camera working again so here are some better photos.
Image
Good shot of the engine and box bolted together

Image
And the intake sitting on the flange (needs to be welded)

Image
From the front

Image
Using this mount (was an engine mount from the GTI) for the rear gearbox mount

Due to the intake ill have to move the Alt... Thinking something alone these lines
Image

Image
VL commodore mounts. These will be used to mount the engine. Much stiffer that the F10A mounts, cheap and easy to come by. They even blot onto the standard cross member... bonus!

Image
GTI friction plate. The internal diameter of the unit is too small for the Carry box. The external diameter is the same though at 190mm

Image
GTI pressure plate. Now after the whole GTI friction plate discovery im a little concerned about if it'll work with the new Carry friction plate. The external diameter is the same, but if I get a 2000 Carry flywheel I'm not sure if it'll bolt to it. Time will tell.

Image
Where the intercooler would go...

Image
TB and rad pipe fitted, works quite well!

Image
These two holes align correctly (the gearbox needs to have its holes drilled out .5 mm *sigh*)

Image
These holes align with a G13B block... I have a plan though...

Image
Nice clear shot for the clutch cable, a custom bracket will need to be made

For the suspension, check out that link at the top. Heres some images from the site.

Thats it for now...

Ive got Mech Eng exams dotted over the next two weeks, so progress will be non-existent (if I wasn't going slow enough!).

Still, I've ordered a flywheel, tailshaft, starter, and dipstick for the engine.
With those parts I have everything I need to get the motor running and connected to the drivetrain! All thats left is a bunch of custom work... damn!

Some stuff Ive found and would like to share:

These guys do new front struts for the SK410
http://www.suzistore.com.au/shopdisplay ... ARRY+SK410

Also seen a lot of struts floating around on Japanese sites, so if your friendly with an importer...

I searched high and low for 2000 model carry van parts and found a wrecker that has EVERYTHING.

"Suzi Four Wreckers" in Dunheved NSW is the go for these parts at a good price.

2000 carry flywheel fitted

Image
Tail shaft - whats annoying about this is that the uni joints are press fitted where my SK410's are held in by circlips *sigh*.

Never fear... Its still happening!
Ive got it all on paper now so its just time and $$$...

ECU is getting mounted in the left hand side rear kick panel, that way its close to the battery, engine (no cutting wires!), and wont clutter up the little room there is under the dash.

I'm designing a 15mm alloy plate in ProE to sit between the engine and the box, with matching steel flywheel spacer, so it all goes together with maximum strength.

I was bored and designed a height adjustable suspension system for the front of the van which uses inboard suspension mounted in front of the engine. So ill be leaving space for that to go in at a later date...

Cheers,
Sam.

Expect updates of the engine swap being underway in three weeks time.
I have my final exams for my Mech. Eng. for this year coming up now, so study study study!

Ok! The F10A is out (again!) and the conversion has began.

The motor is in propped where it needs to be and im making the mounts to hold it there this week.

To get the motor far enough over to line up the tail shaft took a bit of juggling and cutting of the floor pan but everything is clearing now. :D

Pics later today...

Made up some temp mounts to attach the engine to the van, now that the motor is where it needs to be.
Ill be building the final engine mounts next week now, as im running into issues with the gearbox mounts.
