As I was turning off the Monaro highway near Hume to head into Queanbeyan a bright red little TR-XX zipped through the intersection while I was waiting at the lights. Damn! No chance to flag him down!

Ummm did it sort of look like this?

I used to own a red Mira TR-XX (Aus one converted to almost jap spec) and sold it to someone in Canberra.

Hey... Wow... We might be on to something here, because there were several little details of the vehicle which didn't really fit the TR-XX profile.

It's highly likely we're talking the same car here. Obviously it had a skirt on the front, and although I hate to say it, they haven't exactly looked after you paint very well... :(

Tell me about the upgrades performed! :D

Hey Josh..

I brought the car of a guy that goes by the name of RNGTR on other forums (SDU, PF, Vic WRX). He brought a Aus spec Mira and a Jap spec front cut. The car had a TRXX front bar, side skirts, rear hatch, seats, dash (10,000rpm tacho).

Mod wise it had: 2.5" exhaust with 3 mufflers to keep it quite! TD04 (small housing one tho), MBC set to ~20PSI, FMIC of a TX5, no BOV :D

Power wise? Do not know, never had the chance to put it on a dyno, but it was in need of a tune badly. Even though it was running 20PSI it would not hold it and bleed back to ~10PSI.

I ran it at Caldar a few times, was very hard to get off the line. Ran a best of 16.3 @ 87MPH with it missing most of the way down the track. I would have loved to chase a better time, but I did one too many flat changes in it and killed the gearbox.. So no more drag racing after that.

Have now moved on to a MY00 WRX, was stock when I got it. Up to ~185>190kws ATW now :D

But I still miss my little Mira!!! Might get one as a second car if I can get the minister of finance to agree.

Happy to answer anymore q's/

Gday guys, I built the tiny red terror you're talking about. :)

As Sean said, I took a Aus spec carby Mira and swapped a whole japanese TRXX drivetrain/dash/bodykit into it, it wasnt that hard, in fact it took about week to do!

I got really lucky, as the car i got all the bits from was a proper TRXX that made its way into Australia as a wreck. The best bit? it cost just $1500 for all the TRXX bits, incl a spare engine! I also was lucky enough to get one already modified ex-japan, with the aforementioned turbo kit/ exhaust.

I sold it to Sean after I sold my Liberty RS and got my GT-R, two 2 door car were not really practical! I miss it heaps, it was huge fun to drive around in as a work car for nearly 2 years! 8)

In fact, im buying a real one soon (hopefully) just as a fun toy!

Cheers
Rod

It was once the owner brought it off me. All it needed was a cat converter.

What are the differences between the TR-XX front-end and that of the stock Mira?
