Got a question for you guys... I've got a 1991 Alto Works RSR AWD that i've converted to Rear wheel drive. My problem is that after a couple of days of drifting, I've started to get some real loud noise comming from the diff...sounds to me like the pinion bearing or maybe even worst. So my question would be... Can the rear diff on those things support this kind of abuse??? or do I have to swap it for something beefier???
And...any of you have a parts breakdown of the diff with part numbers??? I'm from Canada and i cant find crap over here.

The Alto Works wasn't sold in Australia, so I doubt anyone here will know part numbers sorry!
But no, the rear diff was never designed to handle 100% of the drive. I would suggest switching to a Cappuccino diff and rear shafts.

Yes I know the Cappa has IRS, but so do Alto Works past the early 90's AFAIK.
If it has a live axle rear end then I'd swap for the diff/axle assembly from a Carry.

Yes, it is a live axle not an IRS. I'm sure the rear axle is the same, or very close to a carry. There is somekind of lever on the diff that enables you to "cancel" the rear diff and run 2WD...but is not connected to anything wich makes me think that on a Carry (or any other 4X4 mini truck) this lever would be connected to some lever inside the cabin that would allow you to chose either 2 or 4WD...but i'm just gessing here...I dont know to much about those Kei things...
Any of you have some pictures of a carry diff i could look at... Like I've said...i'm from Quebec, Canada and theres no info at all available around here.

on mine (CM11V) the lever is moved and bolted in the other position
I think the only ones that had a in-cabin lever were the earlier 1987,88 models

The carry diff looks very close...doesnt it?? Mine is just like yours I think...The lever is locked in place with a small bolt directly on the diff.
So??? are those things strong enough or should i get something stronger???
I had a look at it on a lift...the loud whinning seams to be coming from either pinion/ring gear, or the pinion bearing... any of you have a parts diagram????

I do have a rear diff LSD on it... It was already on the car when I bought it. I also canceled the rear diff Viscous coupling...and the front wheel drive system to...so i know have a Rear wheel drive Drift Alto...!!! But...with a blown up rear diff...
