Hi guys,

Just wondering its still ok to use my flywheel as it is, or does it have to be replaced of repaired?

Replace.

How would you get the correct tension on the bolt? (couldn't) so then the bolt loosens, eventually comes away... Nasty.

Better to do it now, rather than after the bolt comes away...

I'm not sure you can satisfactorily repair that either (being a cast item), but I stand to be corrected.

Cheers

Looks like someone has overtightened the bolt. I have seen flywheels repaired before, you can weld cast iron if you have the right gear & are good enough, but if a replacement is easy to come by, just replace it.

If you weld a flywheel you have to then check it for deflection, have it machined and balanced again. For the cost of a replacement it doesn't make any sense to repair it.

I'm getting it replaced.
I've handed everything over to suziworld to get it back-up and running again.
Its taking way too long doing it by myself and since i'm learning as i go, i've made a few mistakes along the way
Hopefully it'll be back on the road by next week :D

Very true, which is why i said if replacement is easier to come by just replace it. I'm sure manual F8b / F5a flywheels are not like hens teeth just yet.

BUT it is possible. Worthwhile? In this case no. In some cases it is.

Artic, will be nice to see ya car back on the road again - with more power this time to move all that stereo of yours! lol.

Cheers
