Just another way to produce a "factory" header/extractor. You will find most extractors have 3 stages - primary from the exh. port, secondary from primaries & the secondaries join into the final exhaust tube. Assuming yours is a four cyl. two cyls will lead into each of the two 1" pipes (secondaries) which join at the cat.
Many cars were produced with cast primary stage & formed tube secondary stage like yours. The first I saw was in the early four cyl Torana sports model.

So many delays to getting my MB back in order with 993cc & 5 speed transaxle... neighbor issue gone, donor shell up on rotisserie, new sheds on the way.... another project also..
Swift exhaust system is the same style.
