I know it is as easy as taking the timing cover off and having a bit of a look, BUT how many teeeth/tooth should a F8B timing belt have?
Some one tells me 83 another person tells me 88, others 100 but i am sure thats for the F5A :?
Apart from the suzuki original (which I am sure is going to cost a packet) does anyone know :

1) how many teeth on an F8B?
or
2) what are the compatible part numbers and brands
3) what are they worth including the genuine article?

Same question, repco has two, on 84 and one 88, my local suzuki place can ge me one, for about 8 times the price of the repco one, only they cant tell me how many teeth theirs has as they "only sell the things, dont have any specs on them"

Recently pulled a F8B apart to rebuild. Counted the teeth on the belt. There are 88 (eighty eight) teeth on the timing belt.

Try checking with Suzisport re parts and cost. (No I don't work for them :) )
They have lots of Suzuki parts including Mightyboy and Hatch.

Timing belt for an F8B should cost no more than $35 for a 3rd party belt. Geniuine Suzuki belts would be ludicrous, IF they still exist.

There are 4 different types of f5a belt. I know.
1 suits the f5a DOHC import engine (about 130 teeth from memory)
1 is 88? tooth square tooth (this belt is too short?)
1 is 98? tooth round tooth
1 is 100 tooth square tooth

Or something to that effect. It's been a while since I changed one...

You'll have to pull the cover off & note how many teeth it has, and whether it's round or square toothed. No real other way about it.

Thanks all, it's soughted.
I was lucky enough to find a belt (non gen) for $10.99 that's not bad. It was in a parts bin, on special, I was pretty sure it was for a 800 hatch and it had 88 teeth so it was OK.
