Hey all, just curious if it's worth upgrading the throttle body on the f6a dohc turbo, and if so what are some possible candidates to upgrade to? And how much of a pain in the arse it is to do

I haven't bothered to measure, so what is the ID size of the standard TB?

The car is in storage at the moment, ( in process of building house), so would have to go and measure it, I have measured it in the past and from memory I think it's around 38-40 mm, but not 100% sure, also if the tb is changed would the standard manifold restrict air flow anyway? And if that's the case would it be worth getting a manifold made?

If you fit a larger TB then you'd need to bore the manifold to suit. I doubt the plenum or runners would be a restriction.

Yeah that's no dramas, as I said it might be more hassle then what it's worth, but I'm upgrading everything else and dont want the tb to be the thing that let's the package down, I will do a bit more research and see what happens I guess

Standard TB is about 50mm...
I been looking around for a while to see what will work, XF i think is 54mm and should go ok... I also been looking at TB's off CA18's, 4AG's, etc...
There is an autospeed article on TB sizes i found once.

I thought 50mm sounded bit big to Brayden, but I can't go and measure it at the moment, so can't be sure, I had actually thought the g13b might be a good one to look at as an upgrade

Seems a bit pricey when you could probably just as easily adapt a Swift GTi TB and TPS. Shouldn't be too hard to find (or expensive) given that they're often replaced with SR20 units on Swifts. In fact I might have a spare one in the workshop I can check for fitment. :)

-edit-

Just checked and I had a G13B TB... a quick eyeball suggests there's not a snowflake's chance of it fitting an F6AT manifold. 44mm vs 39mm, but the body size itself is massive by comparison, the bolts are a good 10mm further apart. I'll pull the F6AT TB off and take some pics tomorrow.
