hey all,

thought i would throw up my soon to be new daily.

background: i have had a work hilux up until last week, handed that back and starting a new job, so im back in my S4 RX7 as a daily. the FC is coming off the road to get a conversion so im looking for a daily that will get me around for the next 6 or so months.

so.... that brings me to the new mightboy.

i didnt want to build my good project body as a daily so week before last i picked up the car "mot" was selling, we had the motor out that week, head was shagged as suspected....

so plan is:
-f8b - stock box
-new radiator (sitting with car)
-new clutch and re machined fly wheel (sitting with the car)
-all new heater/rad pipes (on order)
-new tyres (should go on this week)
-cut and polish (ive already done this on the weekend just gone, will post pics for this 2morro) its made such a huge difference, car looks almost new cough cough
-we painted the tray black - pics of this 2morro as well
-new CV's not totally needed but replacing the rest so may as well
-new brakes (will be ordered this week)
couple of new lights
-totally de-greased the engine bay, found the stock paint to be in super good condition
-fix the little interior things - replace seat belts, door locking latch, re bolt the parcel tray, replace gear knob
-stock carby for the blue plate, but might go weber later

aim is to have it with blue plate and rego on it before xmas. that depends on us getting the motor in time, hope to get it next week or the week after at the latest....

Cool.

Those bits seem pretty easy to do.

You'll need to press the news rotors on with the bearings.

yeah man, its all simple just need the time to get to it between the new job. its at a mates place in brisbane and he will do the lion share of the work for me for beer money :) i will spend the time i can on it when im down but he will do all the collecting of the part and such.

plan is for it to be mechanically sound so it will start every time first time during when i need it over the next 6 or so months.

ive got loads of spare audio stuff so she will get simple front splits like i did in my last one in kick panels and possibly a sub in the back if i can be stuffed and depending on how much it actually gets driven.

Mine will be a daily when it gets done.

I'm just running 6's in the front and 6x9's in the back. Went with jvc because the grill design matches my wheels (3 spoke).

well i finally got it in for a roadie late last week,

there was a couple of suspension bushes they were not happy with, the lowering blocks have to go, i didnt even look but the front springs had been cut (cant believe i didnt think to check this), and there was a back brake that was sticking.

should have plates on it by next week....

only 2 months later than i wanted, but work has not started on the FC yet so no need to rush this.

will start on the audio system once it has plates on it...

it continues,

all new suspension bushes in
new shocks and springs all round
new back brakes
cleaned the carby, not bothering to rebuild it as i wanna put on a webber kit

have 2 fix up 2 little spots of rust at the engine mount at the top of the fire wall for rego. took it to a panel beater up the road from me (as im waiting on the rain to go away so i can have the concrete done for my shed, kit is here, slab prep is done, just need it to dry out so we can get the cement truck in....)

anyway old mate said, "well if you are fixing up the rust" (2 spots no bigger than a 50c coin) "may as well re paint her".... so we got talking and she will be sporting a bright new coat or paint by next week.

we will do the panel gaps, take out all of the little dings from years of use. the guy is a beater by trade working from home so i will be going round after work and we will have it done next week.

so much for a cheap run around back up car i should have got another RX7...
