Alto springs should fit no probs if they're the same size as the domestic version. Alto/Hatch/MB/SA Swift are all the same diameter.

Sweet,
Any ideas what year the 2 bolt strut tops stopped?

Ive found KYB RC3442 for cheap - $100pr

No idea on either, but I do have a pair of standard height domestic Alto springs here if you want me to measure them for reference (in case they're easier to source).

IMHO, they extended the 2 bolt strut to more newer models - but they changed the style of dampening, and went from D hole to circle

Old Style - 41710-82000
Uses all these bits

New Style

http://i.imgur.com/VgCIddT.jpg - Suzuki Sport offer it with the D holes
Then uses all these bits

Shit.

Ordered a full set of springs from Japan, paid for and should be posted within the next week...

Today I've realised the auction details look odd, it says CP21S like I want - but it also says Fronte and CP22S
Which means its likely meant for Cervo Mode CP21S :(

Hopefully its just a slight different in spring rates between the models

Also ordered $250 of OEM parts

So all my struts I have seem to be matching hole spacing down the bottom

Image

Admittedly I've only tried the white ones on the black altos knuckles - and they definitely don't match.

The Swift spring seat is lower than the Altos, so I'll have to source different spring tops if I want to keep the spring ?static? height the same as the others.

( IE, https://partsouq.com/catalog/images/Suz ... 445827.png #11 shape as opposed to https://partsouq.com/catalog/images/Suz ... 672553.png #12 )
EDIT, but I have a spare perch from a wreckers scrounge that I must assume is a Swift of some type (It came with the rubbers/bearings/tops that match mine) - which does not match my springs, too big.

Image

The tops of the stroke seem to be close enough

I need to take the struts + knuckles off the black car again to compare, then I can put a set together after I decide which spring set to use

More progress today

Clutch assembly fitted: all F5B stuff, had to use another clutch disc as the springs were bad
- F6A has same part numbers for Flywheel and Plate, different disc  :-o

Used the F6A crank pulley, swapped F6A alternator one over to F5B alternator
- F5B pulley is different size - forgot to check if matches my other F5B one (part numbers say F5B/F6A should match)
- F5B alternator pulley is bigger than F6A

This is whats left of my F5B timing cover, any ideas of cause?

Trying to route hoses for the oil warmer water ring thingo is a pain, no wonder its usually bypassed.

Any tips for cleaning out the interwarmer?

Ended up putting a stock turbo back on, the Hitachi water flange is different and wouldn't work.

Dump pipe that came with the importer engine was slightly different to the other F6A so had to use that, need to find a replacement now.
F5B doesn't have O2 sensor or provision to tap for one

No washers in parts catalog

Gearbox back on, could do with a new thrust bearing but I don't think I could be bothered.

What do people think about trying to use the complete F5B loom and ECU with the F6A?
Or F5B loom + F6A ECU?

F5b loom with f6a engine should work, they share same head and other bits, isn't only difference the f6a runs an 02 sensor? The actual engine should run ok in my opinion

So far I've noticed:
Starter / Alternator sub-loom has different connector toward the main loom
Inlet manifold sub-loom has different connector toward the main loom; Manifold temp and TPS are different plugs

All the plugs on the rad outlet area are different - square v round, spade v bullet

Still have more loom to investigate
