With the HOLK finally coming out from the panel beater at the end of this week, I feel like putting a bit of effort in bringing it back to its former glory.
I know it is an almost impossible ask, but is there anyone with a F8B gearbox willing to part with (for a reasonable price)? Possibly in Victoria..
Hey mate i do have a spare one i might be willing to part with. how do you identify the difference between an F5A and an F8B gearbox though? Im in melbourne
The only way I can think of, to be sure the box is for an F8B, would be to ensure it's in fourth, and rotate the input shaft and count the rotations of the output splines.
The F5A box final drive ratio is 5.29 to 1 and the F8B box is 4.35 to 1.

There is a marking under the gearbox (in the round plate) that has either a "B" or "8". If it is from a F5A has a "5" or "A" (can't rememebr which one of the 2)
