How hard is it to remove the crankshaft pulley with the engine in situ. There is obviously no room to get a puller in there and probably the same with the water pump???

Never had a problem removing it while it was in the car.

Same as above, I've never had an issue. Worst case a few taps with a rubber/urethane mallet frees up the pulley once the bolt is removed.
