Out of curiosity, who are you insured with?
I pay $480 a year with Shannons for an AV of $8000, but the coverage limits me to two days driving per month.
Can't help but feel that I'm being ripped off!
Shannons. Value of 8k. I have 3cars with them in total.

Do they put any restrictions on how often you can drive it?

Hi guys,
I'm up for renewals but is too expensive.
Am thinking of joining a club and using classic plates since mine is 31 yrs old.
Any thoughts?

I think a lot of owners are looking into the same thing. Just be aware that club rego limits use to club events and 'testing', plus you need to keep a log book.
