Hi Ive got a imported Suzuki carry 4wd Ute F5A motor .A while back i changed the timing belt plus the seals . And the tension er .So i got a 100 tooth belt for it put it on .The motor failed it has to be rebuilt . What i wanted to ask was has anyone encountered a timing pulley tension er in these motors that is steel the pulley is a bras colour . I put a standard mighty boy kit in it. but the tension er pulley is black plastic rubber compound. its wearing to quick rubbing near the water pump.the steel tension er was a smaller diameter so it must tighten harder i am guessing . ok like to hear some thoughts about it.

Can't say I've heard of a steel/brass tensioner on an F5A before. Does it look factory or something that's been made up to solve an issue? Technically a larger pulley should put more tension on the belt, not that they need a massive amount. Clearly there's something wrong if it is rubbing on the water pump.
