Forum update

Hard to believe it has been 5 years since the last big forum upgrade, and it is well overdue for an overhaul.
Either Saturday or Sunday night I'll be updating to the latest version of phpBB, and changing the style to work better on mobile and tablets. So if you visit the forum and it looks different, you'll know why. :wink:

After that is done I'll be turning my attention to the rest of the website.

Okay, so the forum update seems to have worked. Just a couple of other things to mention:
  • Given the small size of our community, I'm going to be merging and removing areas of the forum. It doesn't make any sense to have sections that are barely used.
  • Although the default forum style has the poster's profile on the right, I'm thinking it might be better on the left.
  • I plan on adding a plugin that allows users to sign in using their Facebook/Twitter account.
If you have any comments or suggestions please let me know.

I'd prefer profile info on the theft, but it's certainly not a big deal.

Yeah the favicon dropped off for some reason. I'll look into it.

Is there still a 'view new posts' button?

'view new posts' is top left of screen above the 'TeamMightyBoy' banner, 3 horizontal lines containing quick links..... took me a while to find it too :-)

I'm finding a few quirks that don't suit me, and I'll try to change them.
  • There is no pop-up alert for private messages, only the mail icon in the top right which has a red spot to indicate new messages.
  • No simple text link for 'view new posts' etc, which is is now in the hamburger menu in the top left.
  • Placement of author details on right hand side.
If anyone finds something that they don't particularly like, please let me know.

I'm a left hand side poster details style person as well;
Also seconding the View new posts text link - and perhaps a Mark forums read one, found
