temperature guage sender resistance

does anyone know what the resistance or voltage range is for the temperature sender unit?
i want to hook it up to my little electric car but the motor doesnt get as hot, i can put in a voltage divider to get the resistance to scale properly but if it would be easier if someone had the information already
