150m drag racing? A well sorted 4WD Alto should be pretty competitive if you keep the weight right down. We have FWD Swifts here running into the 10 second bracket over 400m with no tubs! 150m is all we can get here in Okinawa. We're a far cry from mainland Japan with proper circuits. My Alto is on...

November 15th: Omega Drags in Okinawa

The Omega Drags was The last racing event of 2009 in Okinawa and unsurprisingly, I was a spectator for this event. And to be honest, as long as I have the Alto Works that's all I will be. People keep asking me why I don't pick up another early Evo; a model of car I know quite a bit about and love. B...

Frontpipe & decat: a worthwhile upgrade?

Have got the chance to pick up a reasonably priced KC Technica frontpipe and decat for my Alto Works, which I'd pair with an aftermarket muffler at the back. But I'm wondering how much of a benefit I would get from the frontpipe. The stock frontpipe looks fairly straight but I'm not sure how big a r...

Took the caliper off today, and did an alternative bleeding of the piston, as well as lubing everything up gratuitously with grease & WD-40. Only been for a couple of short drives but it sounds like the foghorn has gone, making my driving experience much less embarrassing!

Strange little update from my small trip out just now to get junk food for the night. To get from my apartment parking area to the road there is a small but steep kerbside. As I reversed out of it turning onto the road I heard the noise again, but my foot wasn't near the brake. Thought it could be w...

Am just thinking it's not shims as the brakes worked without the shims for a time with no noise at all. Then as soon as I did this caliper rebuild I get the "foghorn" noise on light braking.

Pulled the O2 housing off and had a quick look. Wastegate hole looks in ok condition. While the exhaust wheel looks like it might have seen a few better days, it doesn't look shocking to me. Might be my lack of knowledge though. http://i673.photobucket.com/albums/vv99/soldave/P1010006-3.jpg http://i...

I have found 'rattle' shims do bugger all on disc brakes.... by the sounds of it being worse around corners I would say your wheel bearings have got a slight amount of play in them and need replacing. I found a good test if to quickly press the brake pedal twice and if the second time the pedal is ...

Put the old turbo back on yesterday, which was surprisingly hassle free. Had to RTV a hole in a coolant line going to the turbo, but my whole engine is held together just about by RTV so that's no change. And I finally have boost again! When I put my foot down the boost spools up and the car feels a...

Brake noise, but not the usual squeal

Want to run something by you folks and see what you think of it. I've got newish pads and rotors on my car which have done about a month of driving since installation. Anyway, while I was doing the latest repair on my car I did brake caliper rebuilds at the rear as one of them was leaking. However, ...

Re: Yahoo Auctions Japan service up & running (sort of)

You'll have to forgive me for adding a few yen to cover my expenses and bank transfers, but I'll be trying to offer you the best prices and most personal service possible. Regardless of what you charge I'd say it'd still work out much cheaper than Import Monster's massive fees! Am thinking it will ...

Yahoo Auctions Japan service up & running (sort of)

Got good news for you, kind of! I can now offer a Yahoo Auctions service for you, although not a full one at the moment. Getting a premium Yahoo Auctions Japan membership is kind of like me trying to keep my car on the road for over a month at a time. But I do have a basic membership going on now. I...

If you can get any sort of Suzuki parts catalogue I would be very interested, and it would help me supply parts. Only one I have at the moment is a PDF of the Cappuccino one.
