metal on metal

i just bought a new boy to do up for my uncle and its an auto. when u put it in reverse on some angles there is a scrapping like metal on metal. somethimes its ok and others its bad. There is tranny fluid in it but the noise doesn't sound to be coming from the tranny, any ideas..
