Top Gear crash
Richard Hammond, one of the presenters on irreverent motoring show Top Gear, has been critically injured in an accident that occurred while he was filming the show.
According to the BBC, Hammond crashed a jet-powered car he was driving at a Royal Air Force base on Wednesday, September 20, and was taken via helicopter to a hospital in Leeds, England.
The 36-year-old presenter has been admitted to the hospital's neurological unit for further treatment. A spokesperson from the local police service described Hammond's injuries as "serious".
"The incident happened quite recently and the focus of our attention is on Richard at this stage," said a BBC spokesperson. "We will make further details known as soon as they are available."
