There's been lots of questions about this but upon doing a search i couldn't find the answer i need so hoperfully someone can help me.

I'm looking at getting some mags that are 14x5, would i get away with an offset of 35, or would i need to go to 45?

And the tyres, can i go 155/55 or will they be too narrow? A 165/55 tyre is available, would this be better?

14x5 you can get away with +38 to +42 offset. For tyres I would say the 155/55 are the go, but I haven't ever seen tyres in that size.

I did a quick search and toyo make a tyre in 155/55r14 another company does as well but i don't remember which one...

Ok, the rims i was looking at come only in either 35 or 45 offset, does this mean they are unsuitable?

35 will be cutting it close on the front to keep them under the guards, but 45 would be close to scrubbing the rear bump stops.

Hmmm. Don't hold me to this, but if the rims are only 5" wide I would be leaning towards the 35 to fill out the guards better. If you haven't rolled your arches (and don't want to) then 45 would almost be a must.

Alright, looks like i'll go with the 45 to be safe with the guards, if they foul on the bump-stops i can always grind off that little lip, or if worst comes to worst, modify them.

Just as a warning, depending on your tyre choice, a 45 offset might scrub the inner wall of the front wheel arches with the steering at full lock.

Ideally you would want to test fit them first.

Thought I may as well ask here now rather than start a new thread. :ugh:

I've just had a set of 14x6" rims offered to me at the right price, they're from a Swift & have a +38 offset.
Should I run a set of Toyo TEOplus (155/55 R14) to try for adequate guard clearance...

I don't think you've got a snowflakes chance (mmm, delicious pun!) of getting the 175/60's on there unless you enjoy the sound of scrubbing rubber.

I tried 185/60/14's on my ute with 14x6" rims off a swift and as soon as it came off the jack the rear wheels jammed against the body. The fronts were fairly snug too.

Thought the extra 20mm width & 19mm height of the 175/60 might do something like that... Considering the 185/60 is 30mm wider & a good inch taller than the toyo's, I think I might get away with sticking a set of them on :wink:

Everybody no doubt has their own opinions about wheels, but I am VERY happy with my current combo. 165/45R15 on 46 (?) offset rims.
I'm running the lowered front and with totally unaltered gaurds I have not as yet experienced any rubbing. Scrubbing on the insides at the front is as good as non-existant, but I do have clearance issues at the rear bump stops. They will be getting trimmed. Too easy.

Bottom line for me is. Anything 165 or bigger in width WILL cause some sort of issue front OR rear if you get your ute lowered. With my combo, the issue is at the rear which is the place I'd rather it be - easy fix. :)

Nope. 5.5" - Which is good because to be legal a rim can only exceed the origional by 1 inch (although here in WA we 'should' only go +2, so it's illegal on that front??). The 165 fits quite nice on that particular rim size.

165 is a little narrow for 6" rims let alone 6.5's :-o

The only tyres i can find that will suit my 14x6's is a set from germany or something...

The same tyres are sold in australia in bigger sizes so i'm trying to find out if the small ones will be legal.
