Today was the first attempt to get the boy blue slipped in NSW.
The tired old black boy has been through a major overhaul with panels, doors and lots of 22 year old dents being fixed. Well its done...
Paint has been applied and looks great back together only to be black slipped at the inspection station.

Was told needs new shocks all round. ( car has only done 55k original from new )
Was told need to replace leaking gearbox seal and engine sump seal. They wern't even leaking it's 22 years old and what did the guy expect a new car look. Icing on the cake was needs front discs and pads. There is over 4mm of pad on each pad and the discs look like new...

Any idea where I can get pads to shut this guy up and shocks....?

You can use SA Swift front struts (will drop the front by ~1inch), and Hatch800 rear shocks, both still available new.

The Swift struts require modifications to the bracket that bolts onto the hub, and you need Swift brake lines too.

Other option is to have your current struts sleeved with Koni inserts.\
Unfortunately new MB struts are no longer available.

Rear shocks are available in many brands. Koni, KYB, Gabriel (AC Delco), Monroe, Pedders. My red ute has Pedders Comfort Gas in the rear. I just had a look and can't find a part number though.
They are the same as for Hatch and 80's Carry models.

Brake pads can be bought almost anywhere. Bendix Premium are usually kept in stock.

Maybe you should just take it to another inspection station... it'll probably go straight through.

Once it has been inspected and failed you have to take it back to the same inspector until it passes.

Got it passed.....

Told the guy it would take afew days maybe a week or to get parts...

He agreed as long as I make the repairs... He charged me $250.00. He also fixed a few minor issues like oil leak form gearbox and oil leak form engine sump....

He wasn't to bad loved the paint job and the way I have finished it. He reckons it looks better than showroom model....

I will try to get picks on web ASAP... But still can't find any half cheap mags to make it look better.

Tempe do 13" wheel and tyre packages for $550 brand new, can't get much better than that!
