engine swap
what are my options for engine swaps in a 1990 supercarry is there anything with a bit more poke then the f10a that will fit in with out to much trubs, dont want to go stupid or to a massive efort just somthing that will bolt in with just a little custom fab....

Sadly you're not going to get anything that is an easy bolt-in swap. If you're not interested in fabricating crossmembers, custom tailshafts, EFI installs or any of that sort of thing then I'd seriously suggest building a worked F10A would be the go.
From what I can see the least difficult engine conversion would be the G13BB engine and box from a late model Carry.

I thought it was pretty stanard on n/a engines. port intake, port and polish exhaust, extractors/headers. Bore block out, shave head to increase compression, reground cam, reground crank. Bigger carb. Bigger valves?

The formula is the same for engines in general: More air + more fuel = bigger bang.
For the F10A I would go with:
- Sidedraft SU carby
- 4-2-1 extractors with a free-flowing exhaust
- Port the head
- Polish the exhaust ports (not intake)
- Higher lift cam (regrind would be fine)
If you're prepared to rebuild the motor then the sky is the limit. Bump up the compression either by boring out the block or shaving the head. (If you could find appropriate pistons you could offset grind the crank and make a stroker.)
If that didn't net you a 15-20% power increase I would be very surprised.

Hey brayden, would you be able to list the mods available for the stock f8b? if i were to run a 30dic? Mainly crank mods and biggest pistons available, and maybe a suggestion on the cam. If its to much trouble i'll ask the maching place about it.

thanks alot brayden im now very keen to start the ball rolling and see what i can come up with. stroker now that would be cool but i think the mods you mentioned up top would work great i think 15-20% is just what im arfterBrayden wrote:The formula is the same for engines in general: More air + more fuel = bigger bang.

I should have mentioned that nothing for these engines will be off-the-shelf, so for the extractors and cam you're looking at custom made.
For the SU, talk to a carby specialist. I think one of whatever model was fitted as part of the triple carby setup on old Holden 6's would be ideal. As an alternative you could also consider quad bike carbies.

i have a set of extractors for a sierra f10a that ont fit because of the shape but you could buy them and maybe the cut/bend/join etc to make them work in the carry? would possibly be a waste of time and easier to just make from scratch i have no idea.
they mount to the motor just wrong shape to fit under the seats etc.
if your interested ill send a photo if not dont worry just putting it out there
