Hi all
My mboy's tray is a little rusty and I was just wondering if any of you are in the same boat.. my mboy was used as a bit of a work horse previously so yea..
What would you suggest to fix or remake the tray.. I would like to redo the tray but not sure how.
I have tried using fibreglass but would rather something umm a bit more permanent and ummm idno, nicer.
Thx
Bey

hi, yer i had the same problem pretty much all of my tray was rusted, for a start i recommend sanding it back. then coating it with some rust protector of some type and then paint it.. This is my ute it had tonnes of surface rust i electrically sanded as much as i could then i wet and dried the rest of it by hand.

This is only the rust protector but i liked the black so i wasnt bothered painting it

cut them out and weld some plating in its place, then grind back to flat and paint.
Or you can probably buy a plastic ute liner and 'forget' about rust.

yeh forgetting about its a great idea, then when rego inspection comes and you take off the cover to find a hole bigger than china and have to fix that up, i'd do it now,

Ah i forgot about you northeners and your yearly rego checks. It was a soft easy-option anyway, you should do it properly anyway.

Cut out the whole tray and replace it with checkerplate alloy.

F8B EFI turbo - Three pots and a snail.
Head down to your local TAFE, do a welding course. Best skill to know when dealing with cars, even moreso than driving
That way you can still fix stuff if you stack.
They may even let you use their tools to do a bit of work with.
Actually, tell you what would look nice... Checkerboard/flat steel checkerboard.
I'll quickly mspaint up a thing

where the scored bits are checkerboard and the other bits are just flat plate steel/alloy.
Alternatively this would work with checker plate 'raised' and 'indented' although i dont think indented checker plate would be available as it goes against the whole reason checkerplate is checkerplate.
